How To Learn Guitar Online
This artcle by Samuel Jackson gives some excellent resources for learning to play the guitar online.
The most enjoyable way to become a millionaire is by far playing guitar! But even the top pro players all started somewhere, and these days the internet offers a wide variety of ways the guitarist can learn guitar and fast. Today I am going to talk about the various ways you can discover how to learn guitar online.
1) Free Lessons - There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of websites offering free guitar lessons for the beginner, intermediate and even advanced player. From simple chords to cross handed finger tapping, any technique you wish to learn about can be found on mans new best friend - the internet. Of all the websites out there that offer free guitar tuition, my pick would have to be http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/. This brilliant website offers free lessons covering literally hundreds of different approaches, styles and techniques on the guitar. Also, the site offers free giveaway competitions and user submitted reviews of guitars, amps and effects pedals as well as featuring a highly active and helpful discussion forum.
Just breaking this up with a great little video. Not for the beginner perhaps, but some interesting way of looking at the guitar, which would apply to all players.

2) Tutorial Videos - Open up a new window and visit YouTube or Google Videos and then type in ‘guitar lesson’ or ‘guitar videos’ and loads of great, highly useful videos will appear. Also, try searching into Google (search engine, not videos) ‘free guitar lesson videos’ or ‘free multimedia guitar lessons’ and see what comes up. These videos are one of the easiest ways to learn guitar or discover a new technique as you can plainly see the teachers fingers in action. Other useful videos you will find online include ones of tuning guitars, stringing your guitar and doing basic repair work.
3) Jamorama Guitar Lessons - I simply cannot reccommend this product enough, full stop. Jamorama is easily the best instructional technique package out there and is far better than any book you will find in a guitar shop or department bookstore. Jamorama comes in a standard downloadable package that includes videos, audio files, text lessons and more. Hundreds of people have used Jamorama (me included) and all of them cannot stop talking about how well it is written and designed and how well it helped them to learn. If you have ever considered hiring a guitar teacher (which I have found tends to cost around $10 for 30 minutes with a good teacher) then forget about that and choose Jamorama instead. You will have more fun and most importantly, develop your own style of guitar playing, not just mimicing what your teacher plays! 4) A combination of the above - This is probably the best way to go! Start by downloading Jamorama, and then once you start progressing, visit Ultimate Guitar and search up tutorial videos on YouTube or Google Videos. Who knows, in 10 years time you could be touring the world and playing guitar for a living!
Just remember, even though playing guitar can seem a very daunting task at first, the further you into it, the easier it becomes. When I first started I couldnt even hold a pick, but I just did what everybody told me works - practice, practice and practice some more. Only when you start practicing lots will you be able to progress through the process of learning the guitar. Now go out there and find out how to learn guitar online.
