Children love crafts at Christmastime. You can spend time with your children as you enjoy these Santa craft ideas that are relatively fun and easy. Pick from a variety of our Christmas craft-decorating, free ideas.

SANTA PICTURE:

If you’re looking for holiday craft ideas for preschoolers, this is a great place to start. So, let’s begin with Santa pictures. There are a variety of Santa coloring books available during the holidays. Choose a picture from the book. Cut out the picture of Santa, and place the picture in the center of a sheet of white construction paper. Use a glue stick to secure the picture.

Use colored pencils to decorate the picture. Once coloring is done, use wisps of cotton to serve as Santa’s beard and a small ball of cotton at the end of his red hat. To make it extra special, use small, black buttons as Santa’s eyes and a red button for his nose. Fill the rest of the area of the white construction paper by drawing presents or candy canes.

When the picture is done, have your kids carefully write their names right under Santa’s picture. Take a large piece of black cardboard and glue your child’s picture to it. Insert the finished art work in a frame to shield it from damage. Place the frame in an open area of your house where it is easy to look at and admire.

SANTA CHRISTMAS CARDS:

Santa Christmas cards are perfect for your kids this time of year. Cut a piece of white card stock to 5″ x 7″. You can either fold it vertically or horizontally. Tell your kids to create their own version of Santa on the front page. If they need help, you might have some picturs of Santa for them to copy. Let them use crayons or colored markers to help stimulate their imagination.

After making the pictures, it’s time for your kids to write Christmas messages on the inside page. Christmas cards made this way are delightful to show off at home or send to loved ones. You can also do a Christmas craft-a-day activity and add this to your Christmas calendar. Whether you teach a class or do this at home, it’s an enjoyable thing to do with your kids or students.

MAKE A SANTA PLATE ORNAMENT FOR THE CHRISTMAS TREE:

You’ll need crayons and markers; cotton balls, a dinner-sized paper plate, and color sparkles. Draw Santa, without his red cap, on the plate using the crayons or markers. Add the cotton balls for his beard. You can even glue the cotton balls into a V shape so that Santa’s beard hangs off the plate. The cotton balls can also be used for Santa’s hair, too.

To finish Santa, color his eyes blue and draw black glasses. You need a red nose so color a cotton ball red with a felt tip marker or food coloring. To decorate the rim, you can use red or green crayons. You might also want to add some sparkly glitter on the edge. Finally, add a hook at the top of the picture so you can hang it on the tree.

Who said it can’t be done? There are so many different ways to share with your kids in designing, creating, and decorating Santa Christmas ornaments, pictures, and cards.
